Purchasing Hardware and Software

All IT related hardware and software items must be approved by IT Services prior to purchase.

Process:

1. Submit a work order to IT Services detailing what you would like to purchase.

2. IT Services will contact you to discuss business needs and will make recommendations based on the needs and uses in compliance with University and IT Services standards.

3. IT Services will obtain vendor quotes and will work with the department and the vendor to ensure 'best fit'.

By consulting with us first, we can ensure that the hardware or software is compatible with the University's infrastructure and systems. Additionally we may be able to offer existing applications or the ability to combine purchases to lower costs.

IT Services reserves the right not to support or install any hardware or software without prior approval by us.

The department may incur additional costs to return items if not in compliance with UB's or IT Services standards and/or have not been pre-approved.
